Nnane-Wedding Music and Dance

Wedding music and dance of the Dagbamba women of Northern Ghana. This music is performed exclusively by women in honor of a new bride. Songs used in this celebration relate to topical, human, marriage, and other social issues. Popular African Traditional Dances

I can recall a number of years ago at Brooklyn Academy of Music/Dance Africa there was a real wedding that was apart of the performance. Traditional African Dance companies performed and celebrated the couple by dancing, drumming, and singing in their honor. It was incredible.

Today couples are celebrating their heritage and culture by incorporating dancers and musicians in the ceremony.

Beth and Harold at their Grand Afrocentric Wedding

African dance is one way to "Get this party started, RRRight!" Make it happen with live drummers and if you can't hire dancers create a dance yourself. It's all about celebrating the union and dancing in your honor.

I found this dance troupe located in Canada. These three ladies came together to form the group called Jaivah aka Nouvel Expose' African Dance Troupe. Their repertoire from Egyptian Belly dance, N'Donbolo, to Hip Hop. Mr. Lambert, I was at that performance (BAM) as well, and yes it was wonderful.
